We love a good story - pitch to us!
The Harvest Africa is a publication dedicated to active citizenship. To be clear, not in the form of political voting or evocative processes, but rather in using the voices we each carry to find space in the apparent vacuum society has sought to restrict us to. The media brand seeks out narratives that are poignant within small to larger communities most impacted by the fluctuating trends of a capitalist economy.
To achieve its vision of showcasing stories misaligned with global media, The Harvest Africa connects the dots of a fragmented society to forge a form of activism that fills the gap between education, misinformation, and localised advocacy. The publication seeks stories that are too narrow, on the margins, and often overlooked, producing articles that are digestible and purposeful, not only to discuss issues, but to forge a path toward actionable change.
The stories published highlight pressing concerns while pointing toward reflection: a gaze toward change through creative mind-mapping that includes the voices of the people represented. All articles are fact-checked and contextualised within sociopolitical trends, tracing their margins, however minute or seemingly disconnected.
Articles ranging from 800–1,500 words are published across the platform on Tuesdays, with weekly newsletters (The Brief) released on Wednesdays.
The Brief newsletters also feature opinion pieces that showcase the first-hand voices of African people. If you’d like to contribute, please connect with us via the appropriate form and send us your pitch.
Our voices deserve a place to be heard. Perhaps The Harvest Africa is its home.
How to pitch:
I highly recommend reading this article on pitching. This is not a paid endorsement, but it is instrumental in submitting a compelling pitch. While accreditation may set one apart, how you tell a story and why it matters conveys a louder message. Be you. Know your story before you pitch. Understand the who, what, when, where, and why, along with the motivation behind the piece. And don’t pitch to the publication—pitch to the audience it serves.
If your pitch falls within politics, culture, art, or leadership, your story is welcome.
